"To love or not to love"

Love is a very complex subject that can be interpreted in many different ways. As years go by the term gets more and more diverse and complicated. Most of the time, people fall in love without realizing it and without planning on it. Whether it's love for a human, animal, or inanimate object the feelings are all pretty much the same. When it comes to deciding if you should commit to your feelings I look at the famous quote: "it's better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all". Everyone knows that their love won't be perfect and there will be ups and downs, but the ups are what makes love worth it. It's always nice to have someone there for you no matter what. When children make mistakes they know that their parents will be angry, but will still love them at the end of the day. Loving someone can make your life be filled with joy and happiness which is what most people want out of life. I think love is an emotion that no one can prevent and stop themselves from having. Everyone should be able to experience it even though it isn't always pretty and perfect.

"None is Enough" Reflection

None is Enough By: Lauren Sandler

 

After reading what Lauren Sandler had to say in her story, I have to agree with her. Many couples in this time period now don’t feel the need to have a baby in order to be happy. Years ago, there was more pressure on woman to have children and it was a requirement for them if they wanted to fit in with society and their families. Since our class discussion is about parent and child love, I think there is a huge category of love that is designated to that. Adults feel a different type of love when they have a child. They also feel more responsibility since it is their duty to help the child in life. Having a child isn’t for everyone though. Sometimes it helps people mature and grow up but for some it is a huge mistake. In the article, I was able to really see why some woman don’t want to have kids. Children can really tie you down and is not in everyone’s interests. To some it can be a burden that’s not worth it. By women wanting and thinking this way, it can cause problems between marriages. Some men and husbands might want children causing controversy in a marriage between them. Reading this article has also made me think about my future decisions with children. With all the added costs of having children, I wonder if I will want that or not. If I get married will my husband want kids or not? After reading this article it has opened my eyes to another side of my possible future that I have never considered before.

Parent Interview

Marybeth Shield is a special Ed teacher in the town of Mansfield. She also lives in Mansfield with her four kids (me being one of them) in a suburban community. She is here to talk about her experience with her own childhood and with her kids now.

Me: To start out the interview, why did you even decide to have four kids?

Mom: I am from a family of six kids and both my parents came from big families too. I always liked being apart of a big family and wanted my kids to experience that as well.

Me: Since your kids are all around the same age, was it hard having four small children at the same time while you and dad both worked?

Mom: It wasn't that hard when you guys were younger. When you guys reached your teenage years, that's when it got more difficult.

Me: Why do you say that?

Mom: Now there is a lot more stress about where you guys will end up going to college and where you will all end up.

Me: Is there anything you would change about your kids?

Mom: Of course you can all be difficult at times, but no you are all different in your own ways.

Me: If you could change one thing about how you were a parent back when we were smaller or even now, what would it be?

Mom: I would try and not be as much of a pushover and let you kids talk me into doing things.

Me: What do you want us to do differently when we become parents?

Mom: Be more patient and enjoy the smaller things in life instead of the bigger things.

Me: To wrap up this interview, what is one thing you have learned from being a parent?

Mom: At a certain point, you have to allow your kids to make their own decisions and just hope that they learn from them.

Daily Exposures

By seeing and listening to a Daily Exposure everyday, it has showed me different views of topics around the world. Every artists tries to show America what is wrong with the world and how it needs to be changed. Things I used to just over look I now see can have a deeper meaning. Many songs we listen to in class I always listen to, but reading their actual lyrics make me realize what the singer is trying to say. I like how we don't have to answer a specific question while seeing a Daily Exposure. It allows us to open our minds and just say anything we want to say about the piece. Doing Daily Exposures everyday has really helped me open my mind about different things in the world.

The Flifferhuzza Curse

It was a dark and stormy night in the Enchanted Forest. Three of the Dark fairies in the land came through the woods carrying a little woven basket with something in it. As they pranced through the woods they started chanting a song that seemed to be directed to a baby that was in the basket.The baby would not stop crying and whenever the witches sang the crying and singing got even worse. The song turned out to be a curse and they ended it by saying: "And let the curse of the Flifferhuzza be with you". Deep into the woods there was a small house with big windows painted green. The fairies decided to leave the basket on the doorsteps of the house. The next morning, a small women came to the door after she heard a human scream. She opened the basket and found a small baby probably a few months old. The woman took the baby inside completely confused on how it came to her doorstep. 16 years later, the baby turned into a nice young man named Henry. All throughout  Henry's life he was very obedient. If anyone told him to do something he would automatically do it and had no option otherwise. He went to school, worked on his land with his mother, had friends but how he was so obedient was always odd. On his 18th birthday, Henry's mother finally told him the truth about how she isn't really his birth mother. Storming out of his house in anger, Henry began to run throughout the Enchanted forest. As he was running, he started hearing a song being sung by three women. As he came closer he saw their dark clothing and realized they were the famous dark fairies. Henry tried to get away but they grabbed him before he could. The fairies started telling him about a curse they put him under when he was a baby that made him completely obedient to anything anyone says. They said the curse was called Flifferhuzza and the only way it could be broken was if he stole the magic beans from the kings castle. Henry agreed to do it since he did not want to be under anyone else's control anymore. After arriving to the castle, Henry was able to defeat the guards and get up to the tower where the beans were. When he was about to grab them, the king walked in and saw Henry try to take the beans. The king asked Henry why he was doing this so he told him the entire story. At first the king didn't think he could help Henry but then thought of a great idea. He told Henry they were going to trap the dark fairies and trick them into taking back Henry's curse. An hour later, Henry met the three witches in the Enchanted Forest. He took out the beans and told them they had to take back his curse before he gives them the beans. The agreed and Henry was finally free from the curse. He handed the witches the beans but when they tried to use them, nothing happened. The king gave Henry fake beans to give to the witches so he was able to get the curse taken away. Henry was finally free and the Flifferhuzza Curse was destroyed forever.

Difficult Conversation

Will: MOM HAVE YOU SEEN SAMPSON?! ITS BEEN 3 DAYS AND I CANT FIND HIM
Mom: Yes, Billy there is something I need to tell you that might be hard to understand right now.
Will: Okay what is it?
Mom: Well, Sampson had a bit of an accident.
Will: What do you mean an accident?
Mom: The other day when you were at daycare, Sampson got out of the house and ran out into the middle of the street.
Will (Crying): NOOO, WHAT DO YOU MEAN WHERE IS HE?
Mom: Its okay its okay, Sampson is in a better place now.
Will: Where is he?
Mom: Dog heaven. A place where he can run around all day and be free and have as many dog treats as he wants!
Will: Wow really! That sounds awesome I bet hes having fun!
